If you are anything like me, sometimes you feel like life can often be overwhelming.
We have so much on our plates.
We are parents, spouses, employees, friends, siblings, children, chauffeurs, teachers, lovers, housekeepers, referees, cooks, listeners, PTA members, coworkers. . . the list goes on and on.
After a while, you completely forget about yourself, because you are too busy taking care of everyone and everything else around you.
A few years ago I had a revelation.
I told my husband in a moment of breakdown, “I can’t do this anymore! I am so tired!”
Saying those words out loud were scary. I guess he was scared too. He said, “Why don’t you get away for a couple of days? Take some time for yourself.”
How could I possibly do that? I would feel too guilty!
People need me. I have too much to do!
I had a million excuses not to go.
But, he pushed me to go anyway. So I listened and I went.
Guess what? It was one of the best things I ever did for myself.
Now, once or twice a year I get away, by myself (with my husband’s blessing) for some “me” time. In fact, that is what I am doing right now.
I am on hiatus for a couple of days taking some time for myself.
