communication-that-connects review - married and naked

A few months ago I introduced you to the wonderful e-book,
Naked Dinners – Redefining Married Sex
.

Well, the authors are at it again with Communication That Connects – Part 2 of the Naked Dinner Series.

Casey and Meygan Caston, founders of Marriage365.org, are the authors of the new e-book that sheds light on strategies to improve communication in your marriage.

Casey and Meygan were kind enough to send me a copy.  I had the pleasure of reading it this week and I just wanted to share some of my thoughts with you.

Here is what I love about their new book;

They Are Real

The thing that I love most about Casey and Meygan is that they are a normal couple.  And, more importantly, they are not afraid to share, not only, their strengths but their weaknesses as well.

Here, at Married and Naked, it has always been my thought that we can learn most from the transparency of others.   All marriages struggle from time to time.  Where real learning comes in is when couples who have struggled give us insight into those struggles and share with us how they managed to pull thru.

This is exactly what Casey and Meygan have done. They have given us insight into a marriage that went from “toxic to thriving.” I appreciate their honesty and willingness to allow us to see that they too have struggled, but they were able to come out the other side stronger and more connected than ever.

Now those are the people that I want to learn from.

They Remind Us How to Fight Fair

One of the most important lessons I have learned in my own marriage is how to fight fair.  My marriage shifted significantly when we started incorporating strategies to improve the way we managed our arguments.

Casey and Meygan remind us that arguments are a very normal and inevitable part of marriage.  It’s ok to argue!  But, if arguments are inevitable, then we better learn how to do it in a healthy and nondestructive manner.

In this book, they offer helpful and very tangible tips on how to manage your arguments in a healthy way and how to avoid fighting dirty.  They give specific examples from their own marriage and even offer those who have difficulty expressing their feelings, the words to use.

This section of the book alone, is worth the purchase.  We can all use help in this area of our marriages.

Each Section Has Action Steps

One of my favorite aspects of this book is that at the end of each section, there are action steps.  These are specific exercises that you can do, right now, in your relationship to help you exercise what you have learned from their book.

This is so important!

How many times have you heard a specific piece of advice, but didn’t take it because you didn’t know how to implement it in your own life?

That will not be the case after you read this book.  You will walk away from it feeling empowered with precise strategies that will improve your communication immediately.

It Covers It All

Casey and Meygan’s work covers every aspect of communication.  From listening skills, to affirmations to apologies.  No stone is left unturned.

When finished with this book you will feel more invested in your marriage and eager to try some new strategies.   There is no doubt about that.

To sum it up, Communication that Connects is a wonderful book.  It is full of real life examples, critical lessons and invaluable action steps.

It is evident that Casey and Meygan share from the heart.  They truly care, I have no doubt, about the health and well being of your marriage.  They have made it their mission to help marriages everywhere flourish with love, strength and longevity.

A couple after my own heart!
