Couple Listening To MP3 Player On Headphones Relaxing Laying On Rug At Home

Music.  It is a standard in each of our lives.  Whether you listen to your headphones at the gym or sing out loud in the car, music is always somehow there.  Music and melody have eloquently worked their way into almost every facet of our lives.

Music makes us feel something.  In fact, a recent study shows that listening to music that we like releases the feel good chemical, dopamine, in our brain. This phenomenon explains why listening to a song can lift your spirits, make you fall in love, or cause your body to, involuntarily, move to a rhythm.  Music can make you feel sexy and frisky.  It can make you feel free and happy.  It can turn a simple stare into a moment of magic.

Could your relationship use a little more magic?  If so, your answer may be no further than your Ipod.    Incorporating more music into your relationship can help you feel more connected, in love and romantic.  Give your relationship a spike of dopamine by making music a part of your life and love.

Here are some ways to incorporate more music into your relationship:

Blend Music into Day to Day Activities

Going about your daily tasks, like making dinner or doing the laundry, is often mundane, but it doesn’t have to be.  Lift your spirits and make the time fly faster by throwing your favorite CD into the player.  Are you and your honey working on a task together?  Plug in your MP3 and groove together to something that you both like.  It will help you feel better about the task at hand and will aid you in feeling connected with each other at the same time.

Make a Mixed CD or Playlist

When you were young, it is likely that you gave someone or received from someone a mixed tape or CD.   In honor of that, put together a playlist or a CD of both of your favorite songs.  Work together to build a combination of music that you both love.  Then hop in the car with the windows rolled down and take a drive, to no place in particular, singing at the top of your lungs.  Worried about what others will think?  Don’t worry, they will be envious of how happy you look and will immediately want to turn on their radio too.

Go to a show

Go to see live music on your date night.  Do you have a band or a singer that you both love?  Go check out their concert together.  Bond over your love for the music and sing along to every song you know.  If a concert is a little too grand, check out a local band at a small venue, head to an artsy coffee house featuring local artists, listen to the philharmonic or see a concert in the park.  Whatever it is, get out and appreciate music together.

Romantic music during intimate moments

It may seem very cliché, but putting on soft romantic music during moments of intimacy should be a regular occurrence in your relationship. Music will help you feel connected and full of emotion.  The right kind of music, playing softly in the background, can make any intimate experience that much more romantic and memorable.

Make music the soundtrack of your life.  Let it be in the background of your love, gently guiding you thru the moments and making memories.    Share together the natural high that listening to music can bring and let it lead you to a happier and more connected relationship.

In the meantime,

Stay Connected!
